Travel Requirements for South Africa
Visitors from the UK, Australia, Japan, the USA, Finland, Germany, Sweden, and most Western European countries do not need a visa to enter South Africa. Travelers from countries that do not qualify for a visa-free entry must obtain a visa
from their nearest South African Embassy before departure.
Upon arrival, eligible visitors will receive a free 90-day entry permit. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six
months after your travel dates and contains two blank pages for immigration stamps.
No vaccinations are required for entry into South Africa
how it works
Travelling with Rifles
Before travelling, you must obtain and complete the U.S. Customs Form 4457. When you arrive in South Africa and collect your luggage from the carousel, proceed to the airline’s baggage counter to pick up your firearm. After clearing customs, go directly to the South African Police Service (SAPS) firearm control desk to complete the SAPS 520 form in black ink, ideally filled out beforehand to save time.
SAPS will then issue a temporary import permit, which must be kept in a safe place for the duration of your hunt and returned when you depart the country.
Please also contact your airline ahead of time, as most carriers have specific requirements for transporting firearms.
We recommend travelling with a sturdy, lockable hard-shell rifle case (plastic or metal) for added protection.

Fall (April to Mid-May)
Expect warm, comfortable days with temperatures between 82°F and 95°F.
Winter (Mid-May to August)
Winters are dry and mild, with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 80°F, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities.

Rifles
RIFLES:
For most plains-game animals, rifles in the 6.5mm up to 375H&H caliber range, paired with good quality optics, are ideal for most plains-game hunts and will get the job done effectively. Hunters should always bring a rifle that they feel confident and comfortable shooting.
For Dangerous Game, the minimum legal caliber is .375, though larger options such as the .416 or .458 offer even greater stopping power and are highly effective.
RIFLE RENTING:
Rifle rent per rifle per day. $40 – $60
Ammo will be charged at cost price.

If you would like to bring your own rifles, please inform us in advance.
This allows us to prepare the required documentation and assist you with all firearm import paperwork.
